MLB Fans! Are you smarter than a baseball board game?!
HR: Freeman 1 (2), Verdago 1 (2)
Mookie Betts got things going with a 1 out single to left. Freddie Freeman knocked a double to right field, Soto came up firing home as Betts challenged his arm and just made it under the tag for the first run of Game 5! Cole fanned Teoscar Hernandez and Muncy grounded out. After the first half inning, Dodgers 1, Yankees coming up to bat.
Flaherty kept the Yankees in check until a threat in the bottom of the 5th. A leadoff double to left center ripped by Stanton, then a Rizzo soft single put runners on the corner with nobody out. And that's where Jack Flaherty left them as he retired Volpe and Well on fly outs, neither deep enough to score slow footed Stanton. Then Verdago struck out. End of 5, Dodgers lead 1-0.
In the top of the 6th Betts was at it again with a stinging leadoff single up the middle against Gerrit Cole. He took off on a hit & run, but Freeman laced a high fly deep to right field that stretched over the wall for a 2-run home run going 348.3 feet! Going into the bottom of the 6th, 3 nothing, Dodgers.
Top of the order for the Yankees in the bottom of the 6th. Torres fans against Flaherty. Juan Soto is at the plate and drive a deep ball into right center for a triple! The Yankees have something going with a runner in scoring position and 1 out. With the infield back, Judge grounds out to short to drive in the first Yankees run. Chisholm Jr. follows that up with a walk, then steals 2nd base despite a strong throwing arm by Will Smith. Though Stanton whiffs. We head into the 7th, Dodgers have a 3-1 edge.
After a 1-2-3 Dodgers 7th, the Yankees bats are anxious to keep the momentum going from their half of the 6th. Rizzo leads off with a single, but Volpe hits a fly out to left and so does Wells. Verdago, 0 for 2 thus far is up. He steps into a pitch to drive it 352 feet into the left field stands to tie the game at 3! Yankees fans are going crazy! End of 7, knotted up in crucial Game 5 at 3-3.
Top of the 8th, after an Ohtani groundout, Betts would rake his 3rd single of the game. That brings in Tim Hill to face Freeman, but can anyone cool him off? Ah, but Freeman walks. Teoscar Hernandez, the free agent signing over the winter is at the plate facing Hill who must pitch to at least 3 batters. And Hernandez rips a single to right, Soto fields and Betts once again makes the mad dash to the plate...he's safe just beating the throw! Heading into the Yankees 8th, it's Dodgers 4-3 over the Yankees.
With 2 more chances in the 8th and 9th inning, the Dodgers summons Blake Treinen to lock it up and he does. Retiring all 6 batters he faces with two going down on strikes. The Dodgers win Game 5 in a nail biter and are projected to be the 2024 World Series Champions!

We've chosen one of the most sought-after baseball card collection sets in history, the T-206 series and feature each player card on the backside of the Baseball Classics new Legends On The Diamond Game to experience how they played then.
The T-206 series, produced between 1909 and 1911, represents more than just a set of baseball cards—it's a piece of American sports history, a snapshot of an era when baseball was truly becoming the national pastime. These cards, featuring lithographed images of legendary players, are among the most prized collectibles in the world. And when we talk about rare, we’re not just throwing around a word. The Honus Wagner card, perhaps the most famous in the set, is a veritable crown jewel—only a handful exist today. Why? Well, the story goes that Wagner, a man of principle, didn’t want his likeness used to promote tobacco, which makes this card exceedingly rare. But it's not just about Wagner. The T-206 series, with its array of stars, variations, and ties to iconic tobacco brands, is a cherished piece of baseball lore. It's a reminder of how baseball's story intertwines with the fabric of American culture, and owning a piece of that history is nothing short of magical for collectors.
